Abutment
The part of the implant that serves as a connection between the fixture and the dental crown.

Aesthetics
The positive appearance after the treatment is finished.

Bridge
A fixed prosthesis replacing one or several missing teeth, anchored to either natural teeth or dental implants.

Denture

One-stage
When the implant treatment is performed with just one opera-tion. The fixtures are installed with the abutments in place.

A dentist specialized in surgery in the mouth.

Osseointegration
A structural and functional connection between the jawbone and the implant.

Partial denture
A removable prosthesis used for replacing several missing teeth.

Periodontist
A dentist specialized in treating diseases in the tissues surrounding and holding the tooth in place.

Prosthesis
A replacement for missing teeth. May be full or partial, removable or non-removable.

A surface treatment developed by Astra Tech which increases the surface of the implant and gives a stronger connection between the bone and the fixture.

Titanium
A metal which is accepted by the body.

Two-stage
When the implant treatment is performed with two operations. During the first operation the fixtures are installed and during the second one the abutments are connected to the implants.
