LoFric®
LoFric®
Patient Comfort

is a hydrophilic catheter for patients who suffer from urinary retention.

Available on prescription in the UK.

Catheter design
The PVC material used for LoFric is pliable lengthwise and sufficiently flexible crosswise, facilitating insertion into the urethra. The use of PVC also makes it possible to produce a catheter with a large lumen in relation to its external diameter. Greater flexibility can be achieved by raising the temperature of the water in which the catheter is immersed.

The rigidity of the catheter tip has been carefully designed to rule out the risk of it bending, or perforating or damaging the urethra. The tip of the catheter is rounded to further reduce the risk of trauma.

Patient comfort
The hydrophilic coating allows the catheter to be inserted and removed gently. Water is retained on the surface of LoFric throughout the catheterisation process, reducing friction and making the procedure more comfortable.

LoFric catheters are available in different lengths and diameters for men, women and children. Men’s catheters are also available with straight (Nelaton) or curved and tapered (Tiemann) tips.

Indications
LoFric can be used to empty the urinary bladder, to perform intermittent catheterisation either in hospital or at home, to instil drugs into the bladder, to perform cystometry, or to dilate urethral strictures.
