On Thursday 29th June we held the eighth Healthy Living Roadshow at the Bowls & Athletics Hall of South Leeds Stadium, in partnership with SIA.
With a greater focus on alternative methods of improving general health, we had three sessions of Tai Chi, run by local practitioner Betty Sutherland. With the majority of people joining in and giving very positive feedback, this highlighted the benefits of including this type of therapy into the programme.
The rest of the speakers were from Pinderfields Spinal Injury Unit and covered the standard topics of bladder, bowel and skin care. We also heard from a consultant about ongoing research and from two nurses on the range of complementary therapies available and how they can help someone with a spinal injury. Patient perspectives were also given on the subjects of ISC and skin care. All of the speakers were well received with plenty of questions being asked.
