When you and your child visit the doctor, it can be a good idea to mention that your child uses LoFric, especially if your child needs to leave a urine sample. The higher bacteria level in the urine that is natural in people who perform intermittent self-catheterisation could otherwise easily be mistaken for a UTI and treated unnecessarily.
Healthcare professionals could have access to less current information about catheterisation than you and your child do. If your child is hospitalised and unable to perform self-catheterisation, you should inform the hospital staff, so that they are able to empty his or her bladder.
