The frequency of ISC depends on how much urine the body produces. In general, bladders should be emptied enough to ensure that it does not contain more than 400ml of urine.
The most common practice is to empty the bladder more or less as often as it would be emptied under normal circumstances, usually 4-6 times per day. Catheterisation is performed less often at night.
The GP or Specialist Urology Nurse will advise as to how often ISC should be performed each day.
