The Kidneys
The kidneys’ job is to remove waste products from your blood and they regulate the acidity and alkali balance, they also regulate the blood pressure and fluid levels.

Each kidney contains one million nephrons and these filter your blood to catch all of the waste. Every day your kidneys filter about 180 litres of fluid. What the kidneys don’t return to the blood is removed in the form of urine. You produce about 2 litres of urine daily.

The Ureters
To prevent urine from flowing back up to your kidneys, the ureters empty into the bladder at a slope. Where the ureters ends and the bladder begins there is a valve that prevents the urine being returned to the kidneys.
